Two Game Series vs. Rio Mesa

Another week, another pair of Hueneme H.S. Viking's frosh baseball games. The schedule called for a home-and-home series with the Rio Mesa H.S. Spartans.

The game on Tuesday was at Rio Mesa where I was greeted by. . .

. . . A Wooden Car???

Well, it is not all made out of wood but it is still quite interseting and the hand made creation of Rio Mesa Wood Shop teacher, Jeff Maxwell.

Awesome, eh?

Rio Mesa's long-time coach, Steve Wolf

Laurie and her sister Gayle were in the crowd

Mikey Magaña led off with a base knock

Vikings SCORE!!!

"FIRE IT IN THERE!!!"

Jesus "Chuy" Barrientos fouls one off

How did the ball get there???

Play at the plate

This Spartan scored one of many Rio Mesa runs as the Spartans won the first game.

Mike and Steve, Prisoners of Home Plate

Time for the rematch at Hueneme on Thursday.

Rio Mesa Running

I wish our right fielder would bend his knees.

That's better!

Aaron Velasquez rips one down the line!

his left hander's catcher's mitt

His mitt is older than any of his players. The Vikings put 6 runs on the board but it was still not enough as the Vikings still search for their first win of campaign at home on Saturday morning in a rain make-up game against the Channel Islands Raiders.

COMPETE!!!
