Jamison Jordan

#5 Jamison Jordan
"The Blond Blur"
Rio Mesa H.S. Sprinter
in yesteday's CIF Masters Meet
100 Meter Dash

Yesterday at Cerritos College in Norwalk, California, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) held their annual Southern Section Masters Track Meet.

This meet brings together the very best track athletes from over 600 high schools in southern California as they try to qualify to compete in next weekends California State Championship Meet at Buchanan H.S. in Clovis, California.

Rio Mesa coaches Rick Torres and Brian FitzGerald have built a Ventura County track dynasty over the past 25 years and yesterday's meet just added more luster to the program.

Two Lady Spartans advanced to the State Meet. Defending 100 meter State Champion Valexsia Droughns who came in second yesterday in a time of 11.68 and high junper Raegan Nizdl cleared 5' 5" to advance.

On the boys side, Blake Selig moves on in the long jump with a 22' 6-3/4" leap. Both boys relayed teams advanced as the 4 x 100 meter team clocked a 40.97 while the 4 x 400 meter squad ran 3:15.32. Sprinter Jamison Jordan qualified third in the 200 meters, running 21.23.

But the highlight of the day for the Red and Black was Jamison's 100 meter dash. He outleaned Covina's Remontay McClain at the tape to win the Master's Meet Championship in a time of 10.52! It was a seasonal best for Jamison who will attend Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the Fall.

Good luck to all of the
Spartan State Meet qualifiers
next weekend.

Somewhere Forrest Beaty is smiling.
